Like Other Girls

Heres what sixteen-year-old Lauren knows: shes not like other girls. She also knows its problematic to say that - whats wrong with girls? Shes even fancied some in the past - but if you were stuck in St Agness her posh all-girls school in Ireland youd feel like that too. Here everyones expected to be Perfect Young Ladies - its even a song in the painfully-cheesy and sexist musical theyre putting on this year directed by Laurens arch-nemesis. Lauren is not like other girls and nor is her friend Evan whos just come out as a trans boy - which Lauren knows shes supposed to be cool with but still feels betrayed by. (Having had an unrequited crush on Evan for years doesnt help either). Why cant everyone just be themselves without obsessing over labels? Then Lauren discovers shes pregnant - the most girlish thing of all.
