David Walliams Books

David Walliams well known actor and comedian known on TV for Little Britain, Doctor Who, a judge on “Britains Got Tallent”. Walliams has also done a lot of work for charities over the years for Sport Relief, he swam the British Channel, The Thames and also the Strait of Gibraltar.

David Walliams published his first children’s book in 2008 with “The Boy in the Dress”, this book was a great success it was not only witty, entertaining but also explored areas of cross dressing, relationships along the lines of gender, while incorporating Walliam`s humour throughout.

In 2009 Walliams published his second book “Mr Stink”, story about a 12 year old girl who friends a homeless man/tramp and looks after him while keeping it a secret from her family and friends, this book and also “The Boy in the Dress” were illustrated by Quentin Blake.

The following year he published “Billionaire Boy”, a story about Joe Spud, the richest kid in England, his Dad was an inventor of a special type of toilet paper, his house was so huge his bathroom had a bathroom off it!!!

Gangster Granny his forth book about Ben a boy who gets fedup and bored having to stay with his Granny at the weekend while his parents are out Ballroom dancing, Ben discovers his Granny is not your regular Gran, he catches her breaking into a Jewellers and soon discovers she is not what she appears to be. They embark on a adventure together to steal the crown jewels, but what will happen... 

The next books to be published are Ratbuger, Demon Dentist, Awful Auntie and the latest book is Grandpa's Great Escape.

David Walliams have won serveral awards for his Childrens books, he won the Specsaves National Book Awards for Ratburger, Demon Dentist and Awful Auntie.

David Walliams the comedian has taken to writing childrens books like a duck to water, he really has been so successful and he is being compared to the the number one World Famous Roald Dahl in his creativeness. The Books are capturing the imagainations of children world wide and its one of David`s ambitions to get all children reading.

His books include: Awful Auntie, Gansta Granny, Billionaire Boy, Mr Stink, Demon Dentist, Ratburger and  The Boy in the Dress his first Novel debuted in 2008.

David’s books have been translated into 40+ languages and have sold over 6 million copies in the UK alone. His books have also achieved unprecedented critical acclaim – RATBURGER, DEMON DENTIST and AWFUL AUNTIE, have all won the National Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year.

Books are suited for children from around 7 upwards, depending on the child, my 7 year old daughter just read Mr Stink and loved it, then saw David Walliams as the judge on Britain`s got tallent and now thinks he is brilliant, she is looking forward to reading the rest of his books over the summer.

David Walliams books for Children

David Edward Williams (born 20 August 1971), known as David Walliams, is a British comedian, actor, author and television presenter, well known for his partnership with Matt Lucas on the show Little Britain.

Walliam`s also well known for his charity achievements, swimming the English Channel, Swimming the Strait of Gibraltar,  Swimming the Thames, Cycling and 24 hour Panel People.

 In 2008 David Walliams began writing children’s books aimed at teenagers, since then he has written 6 books and has a picture book for the younger age group 0-4 yrs.

Novels

1. The Boy in the Dress

The story recounts a neglected 12-year-old boy called Dennis' search for a female role model, his friendship with the popular girl in school, and the ways in which relationships develop along gender lines.

2. Mr Stink

About a 12-year-old girl who meets a tramp and helps look after him. She keeps him hidden from her family. The book consists of 26 illustrated chapters full of jokes. It is aimed at teenagers and children over 9. It was the last of Walliams books to be illustrated by Quentin Blake. The book was awarded the Children's Award in the inaugural People's Book Prize in 2010, and was made into a 60-minute film, which premiered on BBC 1 on 23 December 2012.

3. Billionaire Boy

The story of Joe Spud, the richest 12-year-old in the world. Joe has everything he could ever want: his own Formula One racing car, a thousand pairs of trainers, £8 billion, even an orang-utan for a butler, but there is just one thing he really needs: a friend.

4. Gangsta Granny

Tells the story of Ben who is bored every time he is made to stay at his grandma's house as all she wants to do is to play board games and eat cabbage soup. Ben learns that she was once an international jewel thief and all her life she has wanted to steal the crown jewels. Ben is determined that they do it together. It was adapted to be a 70 minute film for BBC and shown December 2013.

 5. Ratburger

The story of a young girl named Zoe whose life is a misery as she has an evil stepmother. Zoe has a lot of things to be unhappy about, including the school bully Tina Trotts, her dead hamster Gingernut and the dastardly Burger Man Burt.

6. Demon Dentist

A young boy named Alfie whose world goes up-side-down when a new dentist arrives in town. Strange things were happening in the dead of night. Children would put a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy, but in the morning they would wake up to find… a dead slug; a live spider; hundreds of earwigs creeping and crawling beneath their pillow. Evil was at work. But who or what was behind it…?
